Tip on How to Transfer Domains.
March 15, 2008 by Domain Names · Leave a Comment
Today’s tip on how to transfer domains is quite obvious but the most overlooked one.
- If you are planning to transfer your domain names, Make your request as soon as possible especially if the expiration date for that domain is approaching.
- Shop around to limit the costs involved
The number one mistake that most domain name owners commit is that they wait too long until just a few days before their domain name expires before making an application to their domain registrar requesting for a domain name transfer.
There are two reasons why probably most owners make this mistake:
- Most owners think that they will lose the remaining time for that domain if they request an early transfer before the domain expiration date.
- They underestimate the time and procedures that can get in the way during the transfer process
Tip on how to transfer domains.
- You should understand that it is a universal rule that you cannot transfer an expired domain name.
- You should know that a one year time duration, is added to an existing domain name transfer.
Maybe an example will do here to clarify this.
If you decide to transfer a domain name today, that still has three months remaining to its expiration date. Then 12 more months are added to that life’s domain. This simply meant that now, that same domain has 15 months before it expiration date.
Domain name transfer may actually play as an advantage to your overall costs involved for the ownership and domain name registration for the duration under consideration
Some domain name registrar offer domain transfer for free with an hosting package and those that do charge varies their price ranging from $ 5 to $20 depending on the registrar you choose.
But care must be taken not to lose the overall aspect of choosing a company that will easy the burden of domain name management while at the same time achieving your overall result as to why you initiated the transfer in the first place.
Parking Domain Names
March 4, 2008 by Domain Names · Leave a Comment
Parking domain names used to be any easy way to earn passive income.
Not any more.
Not long ago I posted an article entitled parking domain names: How to earn a passive income on which I discussed this issue.
Domain parking: The Problem.
But just like most good things online, soon or later too much hype builds up and before you know it, it becomes a feasting field for the bad boys and their scams.
Now, we do know that there have been instances in the past,
where some search engines have penalized and black listing some parked domain names in the context that such names exhibited the characteristics of link farms.
No serious web master or someone in the business of parking domains would want such a thing to happen.
It normally takes a lot of effort and time to regain from the wrath of the search engines.
So the question is:
How do you protect your parked domain name and probably keep on earning a passive income?
Parking Domain Names. The solution.
Well, here is a simple solution, and it’s really not an ingenious one.
Content.
Yes, I know you have heard it some where that content is king.
Instead of having an all ad’s page full of links,
Why not spice up your landing page with a little bit of content coupled with a few links here and there.
Mmm…that is easily said and can be practical only if you own one or two of those parked domains.
The next logical question then is, What if you own several hundreds of such domain?
It is worth noting that some domain name parking services have the ability to use their software to auto create and generate content rich pages that have been optimized to match the domain name keyword.
It’s not really a hard thing to find such services, just do a little research before you choose the one to work with. It’s the only way to survive in this business of parking domain names and possibly earn a little bit of passive income.
